Biography
Pat Burnes first joined our department in 1972. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, she is Coordinator of College Composition, a post that includes supervision of all English Department teaching assistants. Her interest and expertise in the teaching of writing has involved her with many organizations inside and outside of the University. She has presented at national meetings on the interconnections of literacy and the community. Dr. Burnes holds memberships in the Modern Language Association, National Council of Teachers of English, and Maine Council for English Language Arts. In 1997 she was one of four faculty members to receive a university-wide award for student-centeredness.
