I am Ali Afridi, originally from Bangladesh, where I completed my B.A. and M.A. in English
at the University of Rajshahi. Before coming to UMaine for my second graduate degree in
English, I worked as a Lecturer of English Literature in Bangladesh for five years. Through
my research, I aim to broaden the scope and the space of knowledge production through
interdisciplinary studies. I have published four single-authored journal articles and presented
a paper at an international conference. My research interests traverse critical theory,
psychoanalysis, continental philosophy, film studies, art history, musicology, cultural studies,
trauma narrative, literary theory, narrative theory, modernism, spatial studies, and world
literature. Some of my hobbies include listening to heavy experimental music, watching slow,
minimalist, horror, or avant-garde films, going to art exhibitions, and watching stand-up
comedy online.
