Kaytlin Black

Hi everyone! I graduated in May 2023 from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA with my BSEd in Secondary English Education (7-12) with a certificate in Equity Education—and a BA in English. Over the summer, I worked as a paraprofessional in an ESY (Extended School Year) program that works with nonverbal students with disabilities at my alma mater in Boiling Springs, PA. At the end of the summer, I moved 14 hours north to Old Town, Maine to pursue graduate schooling at the University of Maine. UMaine presented me with an undeniable offer of doing the two things I love: taking classes and teaching classes! Through my Graduate Teaching Assistantship, I am able to work toward my MA in English with a concentration in Writing Studies (meaning Rhetoric/Composition/Technical Communication), while also teaching a section of College Composition 101. When I’m not in class or teaching, you can find me playing with my pup, Scout, or cracking jokes—I love to laugh and make people laugh!
